But I am also considering Wharfedale, Nubert and Teufel.
#Magnat cubus upgrade#
I am actually looking for an upgrade of speakers, and I am in love with the looks of the Vintage 120 and 110. I think the vintage should sound better and might be cheaper (because the certificate costs money.). The materials they use are a mixture of Vintage (1 series) and Vector series: Vector Woofer, Vintage tweeter. I cannot say anything special about the THX series, except that I like the looks and they are quite small. Something true about them is that they usually have a very strong midbass, and although they have depth and punch, they are lacking in precision. They are supposed to be "equivalents", but everybody says the Canton are better. As an example, the Magnat Vector 77 (or 55) compared to the Canton LE 107 (or 109). The point is, these others lie in a more expensive price range.
#Magnat cubus series#
After that come top hifi level, with the Vintage series, which are regarded as very good, and I am thinking about getting some of these.ĭetractors argue that each of the series cannot compete with series from other manufacters (supposed to be in the same quality bracket). Then come the Vector, which are regarded as good speakers. The Motion Series are entry hifi level, but nobody consider them as a good product, although still, they are extremely cheap. The series "Cubus" cannot be classified as hifi. To see the frequency response of the Vectors 55.

As an example, the Vector 55 drops 5 dB down at 50 Hz, and from there down steadily, but they quote 22 Hz (at which they give 25 dB less than the flat part). Take also into account that the numbers they quote for frequency range and sensitivity are very "permisive". but anyway, the market prices are good/very good for what you get. They just put unrealistic numbers, to make you feel you get a bargain. I read quite a few threads in german forums about them, and I can go a little further with explanations:įirst of all, do not pay attention to retail prices. Fans say they have unbeatable price/quality relation. Yes, I can tell you something about it, although I think it won't help much., because there are divided opinions.ĭetractors say they are crap. The problem is that I'd have to pay all the packages before, and that would be quite a lot of money.Īlso, I have been thinking that it would be enough to buy a couple of front speakers, since once I am satisfied with them, the others should behave similarly. If I spent 100 euro in sending costs, it wouldn't be bad, regarding I'd be completely sure I got what I liked more. Then I could send back what I don't like, and get the money back. that means, I'd have to go for some banana plugs.). The ideal case would be to get home all the speakers I have in mind, and try all of them for one week or so (. I have read in a german forum that they are the same as Magnat, it is the same company and, in the end, same products with different looks and names. I can't go to their shops for an audition, they are too far from here.Ībout Heco. The problem is that I will have to pay the sending costs in any case. Well, I knew about Nubert and Teufel, and it is possible that I will order them.

I know sound should be the first but today also the looks play a role. Then, I saw the MAgnat Vintage 1 series, which actually have very nice looks. Since I am in germany, I have also seen the Magnat Vector series (not Vector Needle), and they would be really cheap, but some people told me they are not at the level of my amp. I have been looking at the Wharfedale Diamond 8 series, liked the looks and specs, but didn't have yet time to audition (I am in Germany, and the nearest shop shop with Wharfedale is around 100 km from here.). The question is, how much do you think it would be necessary to invest, and which speakers would you suggest? I have a Yam530 receiver, and have been told that it is in the middle class of hifi, so I'd like to match it with proper speakers. after hearing another setups (why, oh, why should I have friends?!). I am thinking about an upgrade of speakers, since I am not completely satisfied with the entry level I have.
